Original oil painting Autumn Walk with the Dog by Karen Tarlton

Autumn Stroll with the Dog
16x20
Oil

We have had amazing Fall weather for most of this summer.
It really has felt like Autumn with the chill in the morning air
and a bit of a breeze and no humidity.
I wonder if that means a real cold winter is coming?
I love Fall color and look forward to it!

Sold...sorry

Sometimes I do wake up in the middle of the night with a thought suddenly in my head. Inspriration from I don't know where, but since I can't paint at 2 a.m. I just go write it down.
(My husband is used to my pitter paddering around in the middle of the night now.)
In the morning, there it is, like a note from the heavens....paint this! Anyway here are my latest.
The dog one may have been inspired by my Maggie, pushing her way onto my pillow the other night but whatever it was, HERE THEY ARE!

Original oil painting Rain Dance with dog by Karen Tarlton Karensfineart

It rained this morning and now it's turned to snow!
I love the seasons despite the cold. It's
natures clock, and helps me know what month of the year it is.
Wonderful!

Original oil painting A Walk with the Dog by Karen Tarlton

A Walk with the Dog

SOLD
A brand new peaceful and colorful landscape.
I did a few commissions like this for holiday commissions and
wanted one to hang for awhile.

This is the time of year when we all need to count our blessings.
Think about what we can do to help others,
and above all don't take a second for granted!
It all goes by in a blink, remember moments like these with a smile :)

Title: Walking the Dog

Oil

SOLD

Walking the dog always helps me clear my head and get my creative juices flowing. Nothing like excersize to lift the spirit and send me creating! This morning I thought I had finished a painting. I Left to play some tennis and when I returned to the painting, I realized it wasn't quite complete..... I really finished it with another layer of paint everywhere!

The warm weather here in Vegas and Valentines day fast approaching makes me want to paint lots of cheerful colors....sharing the love! These romance landscapes will always be one of my favorites to paint....and here is man's best friend too, along for the stroll.
We had a beautiful day here out west! If you didn't have any sunshine out your way, I hope this painting at least warms your heart!

"It has been said that art is a tryst, for in the joy of it maker and beholder meet." -- Kojiro Tomita
I painted this mostly in knife using deep cad yellows, reds and umbers with pops of teal! I always enjoy adding man's best friend to the painting for what good is walk without your dog! I hope it makes you smile as that is always my ultimate goal!

Fall Stroll

Title: Fall Stroll
Size: 12 x 24
Medium: oil on stretched canvas
THE PAINTING:
goes on auction tonight!
It's an oven in Vegas today....I think 112 in the shade so I'm fantasizing about cooler months to come with this oil painting. Richly textured and at least 5 layers of paint make this a focal point to any room. I used both palette knife and brush for extra depth and interesting textures.
TODAY:
I got up as early as possible to go on a little jog in the morning with Maggie my dog. She doesn't last long, just a few miles, and I'm at about that tolerance so we're a good pair. Now we're both dog tired!

Fall Park Walk with the Dog

Title: Fall Park Walk with the Dog
Size: 20 x 24
Medium: Oil on gallery wrapped canvas
See my auction ...opening bid is $138
PAINTING:
This painting is very fitting for the season. It's suddenly very chilly and rainy here in Arlington, VA and the trees are beautiful and full of Fall colors. I have many layers of paint, delicately swiped with palette knife and I love to paint trees this way. The colors are layered dark to light and I go heavier as I paint so that the highlighted colors are the thickest.
INSPIRATION:
The season and the trees all around me here in this city. I walk my dog 3 times a day, even in the rain and love the colors here now. Walking is mentally stimulating and exhiliarating and my little Maggie loves it!
