I have two brand new New York paintings inspired by Central Park from my last visit a month ago.
We stay fairly close to the park and my husband is a marathon runner, so while he goes for miles
and miles, I run/walk/jog stop to sketch and photograph
this amazing place.
Yes I like the Gapstow Bridge area best!

THE PAINTING: This is palette knife and oil and lots of it! I used Cad reds, winsor yellows and blues. I again played with the cool against the warm colors and it has great texture and detail. Brilliant colors spreading across the canvas bringing a sense of the powerful energy of New York.

PAINTING:
This painting is rich with brilliant blue-greens and vivid yellows, characteristic of the French Impressionist era. Every once in a while I like to put pastel colors into my paintings and make a sunshine painting!
INSPIRATION:
My last trip to the city and of course the Monet paintings that I go stare at about once a month since the National Gallery of Art is just 10 minutes from my house. I drag the kids, who are now starting to appreciate the works. I'm always in the mood to paint when I come back from the gallery. Hope it inspires you!
