Stormy Embrace

It's still wet but should be dry soon.
Lots of beautiful broken color

Original oil paintings and commissions by Karen Tarlton

Tammy's Angel
custom commission

I've been so busy painting custom works for collectors!
Here are a few of my most recently finished.
These bring me so much joy because I
feel such a connection to the people I paint special works for.
It's a pleasure and an honor each time :)

I'm also very busy working on paintings to illustrate
a brand new children's book which will be published this year!
More to come on that exciting news!

Original oil painting Spring Romance landscape by Karen Tarlton

Spring Romance

I love this new square shaped canvas.
So I painted one of my favorite scenes
all aglow in rose colors and soft greens
because spring is right around the corner.

Every moment of each day is precious!

Original oil painting Peacock on a Fence by Karen Tarlton

Peacock on a Fence
oil by palette knife
He jumped from the fence and struck a pose!
Handscome isn't he, just watching us walk by.
We ate our packed lunch watching peacocks after a hard day of gardening at the local nature center garden. Here we are planting, mulching and watering. A nice weekend to volunteer!

And find some inspiring peacocks to paint!

Oil paintings by Karen Tarlton

16x20 / oil
A new Paris cityscape for a charity auction in Las Vegas
Waiting for it's frame to arrive and then I'll get it shipped off :)

I get many requests for a donated painting and try to help
as many causes as I can each year as my way of giving back to communities all over the country.
This month has been quite busy!
I think I've donated to 4 great causes in four different states!
I can't say yes to every single one, although I wish I could,
but I will continue to contribute each month and consider each request!

I need to remember to take time to enjoy California's beauty!
Here are a few snapshots from last week's hike.
Lupine - I love this wildflower!

The Ocean in the distance is the goal! Oohh so pretty!
I'm trying to keep up but I have to enjoy the beauty :)

Original oil painting elephant portrait by Karen Tarlton

Portrait of an Elephant

"I have not tried to reproduce nature: I have represented it." ~Cezanne

Bits of red, gold and blue come together
creating shape and form in this impressionistic creature.
A wonderful and noble animal deserving of a portrait or two. :)

Paris Rain Original oil painting by Karen Tarlton

Paris Spring Rain

Just when I almost gave up in this Artiste Wine label contest
they announced it's not over until it's over!
Hacking and illegal voting happened by at least one artist, :(
so they will check each vote and let us know in a few days who the winner is.

I just want to thank everyone who voted and so kindly supported me in this.
I so enjoyed talking to everyone and participating in the finals!
In case you haven't voted there is still time, but only U.S. votes will count at this point.
and please like my fan page as well!
