I like the symbolism don't you?

I'm moving my studio this week....making more room
Cleaning out and cleaning up!
Trying to get all my knives and large paint tubes organized and neat for tomorrow so I can dive into painting first thing in the morning!

Cat King

Title: The Lure of Fly Fishing
Size: 20 x 24
Medium: oil on stretched canvas
SOLD

Title: Cat King
Size: 9 x 12
Medium: oil on stretched canvas
SOLD

ABOUT THIS PAINTING:
If you want to be a happy artist, just paint a cat! They are so much fun to paint. This one has quite an inspiration. I had a wonderful black cat and he was just regal. He knew we were just here to serve him and that we adored him. He was a large feral cat eating rabbits out of my yard in Florida when we adopted him. He was one of the greats!
Thanks for checking in!

Fall Fishing by Early Light

Title: Fall Fishing by Early Light
Size: 24 x 30
Medium: oil on stretched canvas
Going on eBay auction tonight at an incredibly low price!
ABOUT THIS PAINTING:
Many layers of Winsor Newton Artist oils with both brush and knife in this gallery quality painting. I finished it over time and it has many layers of glazed color and is rich and deep with contrasting cool blues and warm reds, which I love. This painting was inspired in part by my uncle, who used to take me fishing when I was a child, and in part by my stay in Montgomery Alabama, where I painted the Alabama river quite often and frequently saw fisherman and photographed them.
ART TIP:
I am a big believer in color makes the painting. Vivid reds, oranges, yellows and deep greens automatically add warmth to any room and even just a splash of color here and there in a painting can dramatically add impact to an otherwise blah painting. Hope you enjoy!

Moonlight Fishing

SOLD
Title: Moonlight Fishing
Size: 12 x 16
Medium: Oil on linen

Sold.....contact me for similiar painting

ABOUT THIS PAINTING:

This painting just glows and looks fantastic in the dark gold ornate frame in my store. I have had this one for awhile just because I didn't want to part with it, but I'm ready to let someone else enjoy it. Every once in awhile I paint on linen instead of canvas. It's much more expensive but withen painting a subtle, soft painting, with lots of brushwork, nothing feels better than linen. It's just a luxery to paint on, and I used some nice greys and warm greens and blues to give this painting a sense of serentity and calm. Hope you enjoy.

Fall Fishing Reflection

Title: Fall Fishing Reflection
Size: 20 x 24
Medium: Oil on gallery wrapped canvas
Check out eBay auction for purchase tonight
PAINTING:
I had a lot of fun with these Fall colors and the light blue in the water and sky sets them off beautifully. I toned this canvas with an underpainting just a shade deeper than the finished painting so that the colors go from deeper, cooler colors, to brighter, warmer colors as they are layered. As usual, I start with both knife and brush, scumbling shades on, and then finish with a heavier hand on my highlight colors and some finer brushwork in sky.
INSPIRATION:
I painted my very first fisherman for a gallery when we lived in Alabama, and it didn't take long to sell. I painted a lot of river scenes along the river in Montgomery and there was often someone fishing. The serenity of the scene took my breathe away. Sometimes it is the simple things that are beautiful and you don't even have to travel far to find them, but seeing in the right light is the key. Hope you enjoy!

The Art of Fishing

Title: The Art of Fishing
Size: 20" x 24"
Medium: Oil on gallery wrapped canvas

See tonights eBay auction for purchase.

PAINTING:
I began this composition slowly from some old photos I took of my Uncle Fishing along the Truckee River near our house in Floriston, a small town in California where I grew up. I drew with a brush and cobalt blue, then adding dark purples and winsor greens for shadowed areas. When the paint is thinned it dries quickly and then I have my underpainting complete. The fun part is laying it thick with the knife, in bright blues and greens and rich frosting-like white highlights.

INSPIRATION:
I always loved watching fly fishing. I'm not so good at it myself, but I used to sit and sketch while my uncle fished in the the summers of my youth. Seems like a really long time ago.
