We live in southern California on the beach right now.
It's not too shabby. Nice weather and lots to do.
In the past 20 years we've moved 17 times and lived in many different states
This painting is part, California, part Florida and little bit Samoa.
All places I've lived so each painting is a memory of so
many places.
I hope helps you remember a special place and time in your life as well.

Beach Sunset Romance by Karen Tarlton

Beach Sunset Romance
18x36
Oil

For the LOVE of beaches, sunsets and romance.....I painted this last week and it's just dry!
Lots of my favorite blues and pops of gold highlight are one of my favorite combinations.
There's something magical about a beach a sunset, especially if you're arm in arm with the one you adore.
Love this one!

Sunset in Paradise

Title: Sunset in Paradise
Size: 20 x 24
Medium: oil on stretched canvas
SOLD
Here's another brand new painting that's still wet! One of my favorite tropical inspired paintings from memories of my childhood and youth. I actually lived in American Samoa for a couple years when I was a teenager, where I learned to scuba dive.
I dove at least 3 days a week while living there. I've been diving all over the world since...Hawaii, Tahiti, Fiji, Honduras and the Caribean, to name a few, and all of those places sort of merge in my mind.
So many beautiful beaches and spectacular oceans. Now, when I want to travel back to a beach, I just paint it and in doing so revisit for the time it takes to complete. This painting took awhile, and has several layers of paint, which I let dry imbetween so it glows with luminous glazes of color. I hope you enjoy!

Sunset Pond Fishing

Title:Sunset Pond Fishing
Medium: oil on stretched canvas
Size: 24 x 30
ABOUT THIS PAINTING:
I love how this painting turned out. It is rich and glowing, serene and textural all at the same time. Many glazes of color over color over time brought this piece to life, palette knife and brush.
Going for way too low a price on my eBay auction tonight....I do feel like I'm giving these away but I sure do enjoy painting them for you all! Enjoy!

Sunset and Wind in the Sails

Titled: Time to Relax
size: 16 x 20
Available for purchase from me on my blog.
Medium: oil on stretched canvas, staples in the sides.
I am a huge wine lover and I also love to paint wine bottles and glasses. I have been working on this one for a long time, so long in fact it's on one of my older canvases where the staples are in the sides instead of the back so it does require a frame. It looks fantastic in a deep dark frame and simply glows with layers of glazed oils.

Available on ebay auction tonight!

Title: Sunset and Wind in the Sails

Size: 12 x 16

Medium: oil on stretched gallery wrapped canvas, sides are painted

Bright, and painted thick and chunky with big pulls of rich Winsor Newton artist oils and my favorite knife. Cadmium blues, reds and yellows bring movement and color and this has a great Summer feel, windy and warm.
