Original oil painting Sunrise Sailing Landscape by Karen Tarlton

For most people, we often marvel at the beauty of a sunrise or the magnificence of a full moon, but it is impossible to fathom the magnitude of the universe that surrounds us.
Enjoy this colorful weekend!

“Live in the sunshine, swim in the sea, and drink the wild air." ~ Emerson

Sailing Away

“I must down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by”

How soothing it is to watch a sailboat at sunrise.

It was wonderful to have an interview with a blogger

Harbor Boats Sunrise - original oil painting by Karen Tarlton

Harbor Boats Sunrise Reflection
12x24
Oil
“The sea is your reflection; you are looking at your soul.” ~ Charles Bandelaire
Moving to the Southern California next week! Yay. It's only a 4 hour drive from Vegas so not too tough of a move, but quite a change of scenery.
Boats and beaches are on my mind! More to come soon!
This new original oil is one of my favorites and has thick chunky impasto paint and pops with bold color! Palette knife painting directly on the canvas in vivid oils! Colorful and modern , these docked boats in brilliant light, have expressive palette knife work and impressionistic drama and texture.

Harbor Boats at Sunrise

Harbor Boats at Sunrise
10x20
Oil

We took our daughter to the airport today. Winter break is over and back to college she went. It was very hard to let her go.  Set her off like a ship at sea!
This painting makes me feel at peace. I'm all at once calm. It is my hope that this painting brings inspiration and a sense of joy to you as well.
“There is one thing one has to have: either a soul that is cheerful by nature, or a soul made cheerful by work, love, art, and knowledge.”

Another completed commission! I love painting water and beach scenes. I think this one turned out real lovely. I can't wait to send it off to be hung up for the holidays! I've enjoyed every moment painting these special commissions for my collectors. I'm delighted to create special moments in time for you all to enjoy.
