Original oil painting commission Florence Italy by Karen Tarlton

A Kiss in Florence
36x48
SOLD and Painted on Commission

This large painting was a joy to paint for this loving couple.
It is very large and detailed so it took some time
but I love Italy and scenes like this take me back.

I hope that every day that they look at this they think of two things.
The love they have for each other, first of all
and
the wonderful time they had in Florence together that day, at that moment in time,
which is now forever caught on canvas!

Let me know if you have need of a special painting.
Happy to do it.

Original oil painting Amalfi Italy by Karen Tarlton

Amalfi Coast Italy
24x30
Oil
Painted from one of my snapshots while hanging out the car window in Italy, near Villa Scarpariello, right on the Mediterranean ocean. I love to travel, and one of my favorite towns on the Amalfi coast is Ravello. Perched on the side of a hill and reaching down to the ocean, this wonderful place offers amazing ocean views. Extra thick, expressive palette knife work and brilliant, whimsical color make this work unique!

Can you tell I am longing to go back to Italy?
It's been to long. My husband can't take any time off work this year
but I'm hoping for another trip next year.
Although time away makes the heart grow fonder they say,
and I seem to recall vivid beauty and imagery from my previous trips still!

Listing tomorrow and it's a magical place to go and just watch the world go by.

No I'm not in Italy right now....just dreaming and remembering.....
I loved hiking up here to the top of Ravello
1000 steps up.  And Positano is remarkable too.

Often the best paintings are made from dreamy memories!

Of such a lovely place and a lovely day.

I'm busy with a few more Italy inspired paintings this week.

Lake Como Italy Reflections by Karen Tarlton

Lake Como Reflection
 20x24
Oil
SOLD

Love this place, Lake Como. It's so inspiring.
Until I can go back I am painting it every once in awhile and then at least I'm there in my mind for awhile!

I went in search of a special place---Italy...... I have long held in my mind's eye.

It's a place I can be instantly a part of and feel part of the timeless beauty.

A place that would quench my thirst for shuttered windows, Olive trees and Sunflowers,  and magical waters.

More to come!

Original oil painting Amalfi Italy Coast by Karen Tarlton

Amalfi Coast
20x24
Oil

Inspiration for this painting....Italy and a trip to the Amalfi coast.
Over the years I am always inspired to further study the Fauves, and have a strong affinity for the 19th century French Post-Impressionists, Cezanne and Van Gogh.

Inspired by trips to Italy, I return when I can to renew my spirit and inspire my soul. I hope my works evoke emotion with opulence of light and distinctive color harmonies and textures.

Tuscany Poppy Field by Karen Tarlton

Tuscany Poppy Field

Every time I paint Tuscany Italy, my heart experiences an intense feeling of calmness and peace. I know exactly that this feeling comes from the relaxed atmosphere of this serene part of Italy and it's beauty is intensified because of this sense of calm.

Ravello Italy - Original oil painting by Karen Tarlton

Amalfi Italy Villa
20x24
Oil

I just returned from Italy and my favorite town on the Amalfi coast was a little town called Ravello. We stayed at Villa Scarpariello, right on the Mediterranean ocean. Perched on the side of a hill and reaching down to the ocean, this wonderful villa offers incredible hospitality along with amazing ocean views. Built on the site of, and incorporating into its design, a torre (tower) that was used in ancient times to watch for sea marauders. . Extra thick palette knife work and brilliant, whimsical color make this work unique!
