Original oil paintings by Karen Tarlton - Italy Sunshine

 Two 18x18 favorite Sunshine landscapes
"When you feel a peaceful joy, that is when you are near truth". -Rumi
Hope you all have a peaceful joy kind of day.

Palette knife and oil is all I use for my
paintings. This is the best way to get clean, bright, rich color.
The secret to real vibrant paintings I believe.

Poppy Field Forever by Karen Tarlton - Original oil painting

FOR THE LOVE of FLOWERS!

It is
with great pleasure
 that I painted red poppies
 dressed up
 in my favorite smock
 with a flower tucked
 just so
 behind my ear.

We just moved to our new home and the first thing I did after we finished unpacking is.......
PAINT a few new paintings.
The second thing was go to the beach.
And the third thing was begin planting in my garden!

The bed above has the brand new hydrangeas I hope get big one day.
This is the beginning of the hummingbird garden.

This is the brand new herb  garden!

And the Italian inspired path.....California and Italian seem to go together nicely don't you think?

Today's painting! I finished it after I finished working in the yard. I think I need to add much more red to my garden to attract more hummingbirds.  Maybe next week.
This painting is still very wet so won't list for awhile, but contact me if you are interested.

Blue Iris and Bees - original oil painting by Karen Tarlton

Iris and Bees
16x20
Oil

"Every artist dips his own brush
Into his soul
And paints his own nature into his pictures." ~ Henry Ward Beecher

Garden inspired art and a bit Van Gogh inspired I must admit.  He has always been one of my favorite impressionist painters.  The first whimsical artist of his time.  Hope this makes you smile......

Impressionist Garden

Oh....how I love Italy......and Italian wine! I didn't have too much, really.

Title: Impressionist Garden
Size: 20 x 24
Medium: Oil on gallery wrapped canvas
Check out my eBay auction for first purchase. I can also be found on Discovered artist, Artspan, and soon Etsy.

PAINTING:

This painting took a long time to finally complete, but I can say that I am now finished. I ended up adding more glazes of color, which only makes the painting richer and deeper. It has much broken color, which is indicitive of impressionism, and expressive brush and palette knife work. And lots of texture!

INSPIRATION:

I took hundreds of photos on my last trip to Italy a few months ago, and I think I could paint only Italy paintings forever, it was so beautiful. This painting was inspired by the Villa Carlotta gardens, on Lake Como, in northern Italy. I hope to go back there one day and stay longer.
