Original oil painting Spring Tree and Wine for Two by Karen Tarlton

“Every spirit builds itself a house; and beyond its house a world; and beyond its world, a heaven. Know then, that the world exists for you. For you is the phenomenon perfect. What we are, that only can we see. All that Adam had, all that Caesar could, you have and can do. Adam called his house, heaven and earth; Caesar called his house, Rome; you perhaps call yours, a cobler's trade; a hundred acres of ploughed land; or a scholar's garret. Yet line for line and point for point, your dominion is as great as theirs, though without fine names. Build, therefore, your own world.”
― Ralph Waldo EmersonNature

Original oil painting Spring Tree and Bee palette knife fine art impressionism by Karen Tarlton

Well it's just about April, I think that means Spring right?
Hard to tell when it's still so chilly here on the east coast.
I hope it warms up soon, I'm ready for the buzz of the bees,
and the scent of the Cherry Blossoms :)

Spring Story
Oil

It's mid February and almost Valentine's day so I'm thinking Spring and Pink/Red and Rose.
Our crazy weather has left many a bloom confused. One of my fruit trees
started blooming last week when it was warm and now it's dropping in temp....mmmmm
Love Spring Blooms though.
Hope it inspires warmer days!

Spring Angel

We just got back from Berkeley! Dropped out oldest daughter off in her dorm.  Spent the day decorating it with beautiful images and lovely colorful fabrics to try to make it a home away from home.  I'm feeling very empty nestish so I'll be wanting to paint more angels and birds/nests this week I think.
I hope they inspire you!

Original oil painting by Karen Tarlton Birds painting impasto fine art

Spring Birds and Blooms
12x36
Oil

A good painting to me has always been like a friend. It keeps me company, comforts and inspires.
Hedy Lamarr

Painted with a palette knife in colorful oils!  While I was painting today,  a of birds are darting in and out among the blooms outside my studio window.  I love to watch them interact. Even with the wind blowing on this hot summer day and the flowers bobbing up and down, these little birds are as agile as a fighter pilot- they can maneuver in so many directions while the trees and flowers blow in the wind.

Rain Dance

Spring fever has hit....it's all about the warmer weather and flowers and plans for Spring break.
I'm off to take a closer look at more colleges I'm afraid. Found out today our daughter got accepted into a bunch of great UC Schools, even her top pick one....UC Berkeley! She got a scholarship to University of San Diego so I'm secretly routing for that one, but she's got some amazing choices. I wish I were 18 and going to college again! What fun!
Hope you all enjoy some warmer weather and have nothing but great blessings and good fortune! More warm and happy art on the way!!!
