Spring Bees and Flowers

Bright blue background and swirls of thick buttery paint....so much fun to paint buzzing, energetic bees, which are my favorite insect, besides butterflies, which I also love to paint!  Some of those coming soon as well.

Original oil painting - Paris Rain - by Karen Tarlton - expressive impressionism

Paris Rain
12x16
Oil

Playing with textures and colors!  I usually paint in much brighter colors everywhere but to achieve a soft rainy effect here I subdued and blurred the background thus bringing the couple to the focal point, drawing your eye right to the pop of red.  I love the romance of Paris!  What a city.

Original oil painting Romance Blooms by Karen Tarlton

Romance Blooms
16x20
Oil
sold

A happy, spring moment painting from my imagination!  These landscapes are one of my favorite scenes and I always think of either our military assignments in the South, like Alabama, or east coast, like Arlington, Virginia and the spring blooming Azaleas and Magnolias when I paint a scene like this.  So lovely and bright with spring color!

Colorful Cow original oil painting by Karen Tarlton

11x14
Colorful Cow
Oil                                      THIS PAINTING IS SOLD!

Love this guy!  There's something about a colorful cow that makes me smile!  Lots of thick paint and texture on this big eyed beauty!

My daughter just got her driver's license today and I watched her drive away in my car on her way to see Harry Potter for the third time?  Lost count.  I still don't know how it happened, but somehow when I wasn't paying any attention, she grew up!  Counting my blessings everyday and trying not to stay up late at night worrying too much!

More commissions to paint tomorrow....I promise to post!

Romance Blooms - Karen Tarlton Original oil painting

Title: Romance Blooms
24x24
Oil

Whimsical and magical....this painting makes me smile and was a joy to paint!  Extra thick oil and lots of cheerefull color ande touchable texture. It took a long time for this one to dry because of the thick application of the paint.
