City Rain Romance paintings by Karen Tarlton

Two brand new Rainy paintings sized 16x20

The first is filled with bold color throughout the painting and the second is muted softly so the focus is upon the couple, specifically the red umbrella.
Rain, rain, the poor south is flooding right now.
This storm's been on my mind hence rainy scenes.
I do love a little soft downpour.
Especially with an arm pulling you close and keeping you warm right?

New Orleans Rain Original oil painting by Karen Tarlton

16x20
New Orleans Rain
Oil
SOLD
New Orleans will always have a special place in my heart. This original oil captures the magic of New Orleans in vibrant, bold color. Like Gumbo, New Orleans is a vibrant mix of European and African ingredients, with a bit of something magic. After a bit of simmering, the result is spicy, soulful and unique!

Original oil painting LONDON RAIN cityscape palette knife fine art by Karen

20x24
London Rain
Oil
SOLD
This original oil painting depicts my favorite memory of London: the dramatic presence of the Parliament building glowing in the evening rain, in my modern impressionistic palette knife style.
Using wonderful mixtures of greys helps generate quite a glow from the deep golden lights. I love the contrast of warm and cool colors!  Winter is here!

New York Rain fine art in oil by Karen Tarlton

16x20
Late Night New York Rain
Oil

Art is... a question mark in the minds of those who want to know what's happening. ~Aaron Howard

What a fantastic place NY is. I used to go every summer for the last 15 years but missed last summer since we are now on the west coast.  I miss it.  I miss the bustle and the energy you feel just walking down the street.  I love running in Central Park and going to a Broadway show.  I paint it rainy because there is such a glow after a fresh rain and a sense of renewal.  Mainly I love the color!

Original oil painting - Rainy First Kiss - by Karen Tarlton

Painted a romance painting this week.  Feeling the love this holiday season and  it shows in my work I suppose.
12x16
Oil
SOLD
We went out to RedRock today and hiked around on the beautiful mountains of Red rock that rise from the earth out in the middle of the Mojave desert here in Las Vegas.

A beautiful 70 degree day full of sunshine, golden light, and both my daughters home with us!  There is not a better feeling than having both my girls on either side of me!
This place has real beauty. I really do need to paint some of this lovely desert land and sky. On my to paint list for sure!

Original oil painting - Rain - impressionistic palette knife fine art by Karen Tarlton

Rain Couple
12x16
Oil

"The pursuit of truth and beauty is a sphere of activity in which we are permitted to remain children all our lives." - Albert Einstein

Rich texture and beautiful impressionistic imagery.  I love to capture a moment in time.  My rain couples offer symbolism...shelter in eachother's arms when times are troubled.  We find strength with support of loved ones.  Let me know if you would like your own custom rain painting!

Original oil painting - Paris Rain - by Karen Tarlton - expressive impressionism

Paris Rain
12x16
Oil

Playing with textures and colors!  I usually paint in much brighter colors everywhere but to achieve a soft rainy effect here I subdued and blurred the background thus bringing the couple to the focal point, drawing your eye right to the pop of red.  I love the romance of Paris!  What a city.

Original oil painting by Karen Tarlton - Under My Umbrella

Under My Umbrella

It's unbelievable weather around the country right now.  Some people getting way too much rain and some not nearly enough.  I'm in hot dry Vegas and very much miss the refreshing, cooling rain and so paint it now and again.  Lots of great texture and this is one of my favorites!

Original oil painting impressionism - City Rain - by Karen Tarlton

City Rain

Oil

20x20

One more rainy inspired painting for April!

April is my birthday month and I celebrate all month! My actual birthday is earth day the 22nd, but I like to think of it as a month long celebration of living one more year!

I'm delighted Spring is on the way and am getting ready for a little Spring break to take my daughter to check out all the Universities she got into next week!

We'll be in Berkeley, Davis, San Diego and LA at all the most amazing campuses.....wish I were going back to college! I'll take lots of photos and hopefully produce some great California inspired paintings when I come back.

I have a few more days to paint and post!

Happy Spring!
