Three on the Nest Original oil painting by Karen Tarlton

12x12

Three on the Nest

Love nature's symbolism and textures. This painting makes a lovely gift for any mother, grandmother or mother to be.  Great textures carved out with my knife and delicate painterly touches here and there!

Mama Watching the Nest

Title: Mama Bird Watching the Nest
16 x 20
Oil
sold
Always a favorite of mine. Maybe because I was born to be a Mom, or because I love nature, and the special quality of birds and nests. I paint these super thick with lots of texture so they take awhile to dry, and I'm working on a very large one that I'll post soon.
I've had many request for these in various colors, so I'm always happy to paint a special one for you if you like!
Available for purchase on my Etsy....link to the right.
This painting is in a lovely treasury on Etsy too!

Both of these palette knife paintings are thick with oil and interesting texture. Sculpture like and whimsical. I love the simple symbolism here and have sold many of these to expectant parents and grandparents and they make wonderful baby shower gifts!

Watching over the Nest

Title: Watching over the Nest
16x20
Oil
Available for purchase
This painting has very thick palette knife impasto oil and is like sculpture on canvas. I used some new silver and gold oils by Winsor Newton. I love to work with this paint with a palette knife. I've sold many nest paintings lately....lots of babies on the way perhaps? I always like to feel a bit of Spring in the middle of Winter!
"O! How this spring of love resembleth
The uncertain glory of an April day!"--William Shakespeare
