PAINTING:
I began with an abstract acrylic painting and the musicians appeared from the bold bright colors and slowly the figures developed features. I then applied multiple layers of oils with a palette knife in rich oils. I very much enjoy this loose style of palette knife application and the very bright, impressionistic style that New Orleans inspires.
INSPIRATION:
New Orleans is bold and bright in personality and its while listening to some Jazz music, this painting just evolved almost on its own. It is always interesting to play different kinds of music while painting. Jazz is so passionate, colorful and soulful and I hope this one inspires you like the Jazz music surely will!
