Oh Summer time, I get so distracted by it !

Hummingbird Dance

May is upon us!

These are my favorite birds to see

and when I do, I know Spring is here.

It's like finding a unicorn; they are so magical.

They amaze but also remind us of several important things to remember:

1. taste the "sweet nectar"  or good things in life

2.Endurance is key to success. Just because you are in a state of non - progression, or "hovering" in one place, doesn't mean your stagnant or stuck. It just means you are in a natural state of rest.

Dreaming of hummingbirds can represent having too much or not enough of one of these qualities.

I also just love the soothing humm they make when they hover in front of a flower

and dance away again!

I love doing my holiday cards, decorating, baking and most of all, shipping out all of the paintings 

I've been so busy working on all month for you all! They are almost all dry in time for the holiday!

Living here in Southern California, we have a lot of hummingbirds!

I'm starting to plant flowers that they are interested in so they visit daily.

The three that visit me travel together. I'm not sure why there are three but I love their daily jaunts about the garden!

Oh joy for Spring! I'm sorry but I'm a sap for flowers this time of year. We'll be moving again this summer so I'm trying to resist the urge to buy flowers and plant them. Instead I'll paint!

Flowers and birds are two of my favorite things to paint, especially these agile hummingbirds. You have to use your imagination quite a bit when you paint them. When I watch them in my yard all I see is a brief blur of color and motion, and this is the energy I try to capture here.

Bold, expressive palette knife movements and energizing color!
