New Orleans French Quarter Jazz

Title: New Orleans French Quarter Jazz
Size: 20 x 24
Medium: oil on stretched canvas
SOLD
I was in a New Orleans mood for sure when I painted this one. It glows with cadmium reds and yellows and I was heavy handed with the oils. I mix my own black with combinations of Alizarin Crimson, winsor green and pthalo blue. Transparent colors are great to work with. It's one of my favorite New Orleans paintings to date! It's my intention that the viewer interpret the scene, fill in the blanks and invent an imaginary story line for this scene.....I hope it speaks to you.

French Quarter Night Rain

Title: French Quarter Night Rain
Size: 12 x 16
Medium: Oil on stretched canvas
ABOUT THIS PAINTING:
A very affordable and colorful New Orleans cityscape. This medium size painting is easy to pop into a standard frame but actually looks great as is. I have multiple layers of Winsor Newton artist oils layered with knife and brush and it just glows. You can find it on auction tonight where there are some great close-ups.

New Orleans Night

PAINTING and INSPIRATION:

Every once in awhile I have to paint a cityscape, and this is one of my favorite New Orleans night scenes in awhile. I spent extra time on the details and several people so that I could capture the energy and atmosphere of the French Quarter. I like the little girl. I used lots of quality winsor newton artist oils with my favorite palette knife and had a blast. Hope you enjoy!

French Quarter Jazz Morning

Title: New Orleans Jazz Morning
Size: 24 x 30
Medium: Oil on gallery wrapped canvas

SOLD

PAINTING: I used lots of cheerful sunny colors in this one, and many layers of paint with a palette knife and a bit of brush. Whites and yellow, golds are dragged last for lots of reflective color.
INSPIRATION:
I just love painting these New Orleans street scenes; they make me smile!
I listed to some Jazz and look at some old photos and the knife takes on a will of its own. I don't think I will list anymore paintings this large for awhile though, it's just too costly and it takes too much time to paint. So I had to put a small reserve on this whimsical piece. Hope you enjoy!

French Quarter Night, New Orleans

Title: French Quarter Night, New Orleans
Size: 20 x 24
Medium: Oil on gallery wrapped canvas

See eBay auction tonight for purchase

PAINTING:
This new oil uses a colorful abstract background as its underpainting, adding both texture and underlying color and depth to the cityscape. My signiture use of palette knife helps create the mysterious narrative and gives my work a spontaneous feel. I like to use vivid color in my New Orleans paintings so they reflect the soul and uniqueness of the place itself.

INSPIRATION:
The drama and spirit of New Orleans is always inspiring. I love to visit and to paint its historical and scenic streets.

New Orleans French Quarter Glow

Title: New Orleans French Quarter Glow
Size: 16" x 20"
Medium: Oil on gallery wrapped canvas

See eBay auction tonight for purchase!

PAINTING:
In this painting I put down a black and bright red underpainting. When dry I started multiple layers of palette knife oils, layer upon layer, dragging and cutting with my edge to create this modern, whimsical piece.
INSPIRATION:
I have had several people request more French quarter paintings so I certainly will get busy. This is one of my favorite places to visit and I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I enjoyed painting it for you!
