New York End of the Day

One of the great memories of New York. We rode our bikes all over Central Park and at the end of the day, as the carriages were heading home for the night, I snapped this photo which inspired the painting.
Title: New York End of the Day
Size: 20 x 24
Medium: oil on stretched canvas
PAINTING:
Manhattan is always an inspiration and this painting was recently finished after my last trip a few weeks ago. I used knife and brush and a lot of texture and broken color so it glows with many layers of rich oil color. One of my favorite NY scenes!
FAMILY AND THE FOURTH:
Posting from Colorado and having a great time. Tomorrow night we should be in VEGAS! Thanks for bearing with me through this move, we're almost there!
Having a wonderful 4th full of great meals and family. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday too!

Faces of the City, Manhattan Reflections

Title: Faces of the City
Size: 16 x 20
Medium: oil on stretched canvas
Going on auction tonight!
PAINTING: Inspired of course by my frequent visits to the "city"...I love it and am getting psyched about going back in a few weeks for a little visit. There is no place like it and I love to paint it in bright colors and rich textures with the rich buttery oils and my knife. The thick paint captures the energy and buzz of Manhattan.

ABOUT THE PAINTING: Living here in Arlington we are only a short drive to New York and like to take weekend trips a few times a year. On this piece I used thick texture with knife and brush and using contrasting and complementary colors brought Manhattan from my memory to the canvas. I hope it inspires you.

Manhattan, New York City Night Rain

Title: Manhattan, New York City Night Rain
Size: 16 x 20
Medium: Oil on stretched canvas

On auction tonight!

PAINTING AND INSPIRATION:
Once again it is snowing and very cold but I had a lovely day anyway. Sometimes the weather is inspiring and snow at night is just beautiful as it falls in the lights. Rain is too and New York dazzles and glows with wet reflections and is so much fun to paint. Lots of loose and broken colored brushwork on this painting and just a bit of heavy knife. I hope you enjoy!

Manhattan, New York City

Title: Manhattan, New York City
Size: 16 x 20
Medium: Oil on stretched canvas

Only a 7 day listing. Contact me for further information or commission

ABOUT THIS PAINTING:
I think I really hit home on this New York scene. Sometimes everything just falls into place quickly and easily when I paint, and other days it's more of a struggle. Everything from the composition to the color was fluid and smooth on this painting and based on photos from a recent trip. I used large swipes of palette knife and soft brushwork. It glows with vivid golds and reds and really has a New York night time feel.
I love this painting in a wide black frame!
