ABOUT THIS PAINTING:
My goal here was movement and energy. I used extreme textures and many layers of oils to achieve the final result...an explosion of motion through color and form. I love dance and it's so much fun to paint movement in this uniquely impressionistic style. I used both brush and palette knife and lots of time! I hope you enjoy it.

PAINTING:
I drew out the dancer with my brush in warm ocher colors, scumbling on darks and lights. Then I came back with a knife in hand and began pulls of cooler colors and some warm indian yellows for movement, finishing with heavier whites and brush work details on her face.
INSPIRATION:
I love dance. I love to dance and love to watch it. I danced ballet growing up and all through college and miss it. I need to find a class. I bought tickets to the Nutcracker again to give my girls for Christmas. It's kind of a tradition and beautiful.
