Provence Poppies, Sunflowers and Lavender

Three of my favorite flowers combined into one lovely landscape.
I can't wait to start a new garden. There are so many flowers I want to plant and watch mature.
France is an always inspiring palette of color.
Hopefully this brings a bit of sunshine and joy!

Abstract Lion palette knife fine art by Karen Tarlton

This is still a bit wet, paint is very thick!
I am drawn to the natural beauty and color of this striking animal, and the bold color I use is like the lion's aura. Powerful and full of emotion and strength.

Fresh Cut Flowers by Karen Tarlton

Fresh Cut Flowers
Another lovely!
This weather makes me want to plant flowers! We're getting ready to move in a few weeks so I'm trying to restrain myself and instead just paint them.
Come early July I'll be starting a new garden though!
I love to cut them fresh from my garden and arrange in vase to paint.

Romance Landscapes

Rainy Romance in the City

These are two brand new paintings that are favorites for sure.
An explosion of color and emotion that lights up any space and adds texture and energy to the room.
Summer is almost here and already Vegas is in the 100's.
I'm happy to say that we are moving to a cooler and much more beautiful place to live soon. South Bay, Manhattan Beach, CA
I'm a beach person at heart and can't wait to set up my new indoor and almost outdoor studio.
More to come soon!

Violin Melody

Just listed and just dry. One of my favorites because of the story is tells.

I love our beautiful daughters! They are the light of my life. Our youngest just turned 17 and this will probably be her last year in the orchestra! She'll be a senior in her third high school in four years, as we are moving again this summer. We are all looking forward to it though, and are very excited about our move to Southern California! Yay! One more year of watching her play....she's a wonderful muse for me. :)

Joy of Sunflowers

One of my favorite summer flowers to paint. The bright, cheerful colors always perk up a room when the flowers are fresh. I'm always getting new ones to look at while I paint but the flowers on canvas last forever!

"That which we elect to surround ourselves with becomes the mirror of our souls and the archive of our experiences"

Bees and Blooms

There's something about the buzzing of busy little bees and the smell of lovely garden in the morning that makes you happy, no matter what your troubles.
It's important to remember to take time to smile and smell the roses.
Sit quietly and watch the waves of the ocean, the stillness of the forest or the buzzing of the little bee.
Hope it brings a bit of inspiration!

Two Brand new Barnyard Birds in thick layers of all my favorite colors. I love to add pops of teal, bright reds, oranges and rose to these colorful characters. Sculpting the rich oil in swirls and drags brings these birds to life!
Each is 12x12 and available for purchase!

Colorful Abstract Cow

It's all about the eyes with these peaceful creatures.  I love to paint them in soulful color and rich texture so the animal comes to life and is not just a painting of a cow, but a painting that will make you smile every time you look at it.  Hope it brings one your way today!

Fall Fly Fishing

Brilliant color all over the canvas in broad sweeps, pulls and drags of my knife! When the sun is intensive and so brightly reflecting off the rushing water, the landscape itself almost looks like an impressionistic painting and this is how I see it!
I hope it inspires you!

Angel of Light and Promise

I paint these inspirational, symbolic paintings when I'm feeling anxious, when I'm feeling stressed,  and they always make me feel wonderful. I also paint them when I am feeling blessed and fortunate and to remind me to have faith in my loved ones, and strength in the knowledge that if you make the right choices, your path with lead in a positive direction. The event was very successful and I am so happy my work was a part of this beautiful show!
So impressive how the eventists made these floating water displays!
I hope to be a part of this again next year.

Monet's Garden

Always such an inspiration, escpecially this time of year. Monet's garden was and still is one of the most beautiful in the world. You can see why he was so inspired to paint it over and over. Here's my own modern mpressionistic twist on the lovely spot.

Spring Romance
Recently finished Wedding commission

Romance is just in the air this time of year! The sun is out but it's not too hot and everything is blooming! I'm getting quite a few special requests for artsy wedding paintings and I particularly like how this one turned out. What a pretty place to be married and how nice to have an original piece of artwork to commemorate such a spectacular day.

Tropical Breeze

I am mentally getting ready for a big move this summer....hopefully my last for awhile.
After 23 years in the Air Force my husband is retiring from the military and starting a new
career. Very exciting but yes also stressful. So I continue to do my stress relieving work of painting soothing landscapes and serene calming images, so cathartic....isn't this a peaceful scene. Makes me want to sail away! (and my husbands runs.) Wouldn't it be nice to run along this beach?  Maybe it's in my future!
