Original oil painting - Times Square NY Rush by Karensfineart

Times Square NY Rush
Brand new work....just dry.
I'm working on a new Times Square commission that's really large! 30x34 but this one was a good warm up for it. A similar feeling of energy and the buzz of busy Times Square. Always an inspiration!

Rain Dance original oil painting by Karen Tarlton

Rain Dance
Palette knife painting is a joy when painting this type of modern, impressionistic figure.
So much fun and I love the feel and illumination I can achieve with my little knife!
A moody, and moving new vision in luminous color. This original oil has a unique combination of color, texture, and form. A dramatic presence in any room, this symbolic painting is a great addition to any fine art collection and hangs beautifully with or without a frame on a nail.

"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain."

Bluebonnet landscape - original oil painting by Karen

Bluebonnet Dance
Loved painting this one and the flowers are thick impasto!
The prettiest wildflower in Texas and fields of these are brilliantly colored and so inspiring! Painted extra thick with palette knife and oil paint, so the blooms come to life and seem to dance in the wind.
I love almost any flower that is blue,
but these grow wild and like the California poppies that I also love,
illuminate the hills with color!

Next week we move from Nevada to California.  Only a four hour drive without traffic.
Not too far but far enough to change the atmosphere, climate and environment dramatically.
I am excited because whenever we move I am inspired my new scenery and people.
Can't wait!

Harbor Boats Sunrise - original oil painting by Karen Tarlton

Harbor Boats Sunrise Reflection
“The sea is your reflection; you are looking at your soul.” ~ Charles Bandelaire
Moving to the Southern California next week! Yay. It's only a 4 hour drive from Vegas so not too tough of a move, but quite a change of scenery.
Boats and beaches are on my mind! More to come soon!
This new original oil is one of my favorites and has thick chunky impasto paint and pops with bold color! Palette knife painting directly on the canvas in vivid oils! Colorful and modern , these docked boats in brilliant light, have expressive palette knife work and impressionistic drama and texture.

Original oil painting - abstract Nude palette knife figurative fine art

After the Bath

This original oil has a unique combination of color, texture, and form. Painted with abstract texture and intentional use of color. I love to generate movement and drama in a soft, impressionistic narrative.
Just dry and listing soon!

City Lights - Original oil painting by Karen Tarlton

City Lights

I love the city in the rain!

Reflecting on this Father's Day. A day I always enjoy. Cooking my husband's favorite meals and spending some time together as a family.
Happy Father's Day to all!

I am listing this new painting tomorrow, it is finally dry and ready to ship.

The Elephant - Original oil painting by Karen Tarlton

The Elephant

The Elephant is a majestic, beautiful, intelligent animal so I thought he was worthy of at least one portrait.
Abstract and a bit whimsical but the eyes are always what captures the spirit and so are the most fun to paint!
The paint is super thick on this original so it took quite some time to dry and is finally ready to list.

Good news! My work can now be found in two new forms.
On beautiful hand crafted wooden puzzles from BCB puzzles at this link:

I'll paint more Paris scenes this summer when time allows.

The Gathering Original oil painting by Karen

The Gathering

Whimsical birds and expressive palette knife work on this new one. My kids always laugh at me because I love to tell them what an animal is "saying" or would say if he could talk. This painting makes me smile because I think I managed to make these three "talk" as well.
This is a new favorite!
